Real World Story: I recently stayed at a Hilton property, and an unexpected service perk I received was quite the memorable experience that I will not soon forget. This got me thinking about what we in customer service can provide our customers to show them our appreciation and gratitude in unique, fun and memorable ways.
Strategies that Turn it Around:
- Make it unique. The customer service perk of feeding apples to Buddy was indeed quite a unique experience. What “out of the ordinary” perk can you provide your customers that will surprise and awe them?
- Make it fun. What can be more fun than hanging out with a lovable and friendly horse? This is a creative idea that makes Hilton customers slow down and take notice of the here and now. And that’s what having fun is all about. How can you make your customer service perks fun?
- Make it memorable. What can be more memorable than feeding a horse? Receiving bonus points and reaching a higher loyalty level are nice perks, but are they memorable experiences? How can you make your customer service perks memorable?
Remember: We all strive to increase customer loyalty and keep our repeat-customer metrics high. And nothing is better to achieving these goals than providing customer service perks that are unique, fun and memorable.
