My last blog post, Is your Mission Statement Useful or Useless?, describes the importance of mission statements. These represent the center point from which a company can begin to create its company culture. But why do some companies thrive while others struggle to stay alive?Disney

Following is a summary of the tips mentioned in this article about top CEO’s. See if you can implement any of these tips within your organization.zapppos

Strategies That Turn it Around:

To create and sustain a “service”–oriented culture…        google

  1. The emphasis on service must start at the top.
  2. The emphasis on service must exist in ALL employees—from customer-facing receptionists to the IT department and housekeeping.
  3. It’s okay—and mandatory—to have FUN at work.
  4. Leaders must connect with their employees and customers.
  5. A Service Culture is a competitive advantage. It drives employee engagement, which leads to better service and solutions for customers.
  6. Service Culture is about the people. Pay attention to what your people need and give them the freedom to do their job well.
  7. When you hire according to your values, you can give your people space to act in meaningful ways.
  8. Diversity is accepted and important.

Remember: There’s no one-size-fits-all company service culture. Like everything in life, what works with one person or company may not work for you and your company. However, when we learn from successful companies, we can apply or integrate that new knowledge into our own company.
